Grant Will Expand Service Hours

Thanks to a $15,000 grant from the Flint Family Foundation in December 2018, STCH will be able to expand its service hours in order to reach those who are working or in school during our regular hours. “We know that more than 65% of people in Riverwood work and yet they don’t earn enough or even work enough to get out of poverty, ” said Karen Streeter. Starting in March, we will be open from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm on the 1st and 2nd Wednesday of each month. Once the word gets out, we hope to be able to serve at least 20 households each night. This is one of the planned program expansions from our strategic plan. Great things are happening at STCH!

Congratulations Sheila Dills

STCH Board Member Sheila Dills ran for a Oklahoma House seat in District 69 when she realized that her children and grandchildren were going to move out of the state for better opportunities. “I want to make Oklahoma a land of opportunity for everyone,” said Sheila. After winning her seat overwhelmingly on November 6, 2018, Sheila has gotten to work on fulfilling this wish. We are proud of Sheila and look forward to watching her work for all of Oklahoma!

New Strategic Plan Adopted

With help from more than 50 community stakeholders and strategic planner Cynthia Stewart, the Board of Directors adopted our new strategic plan at the July 2018 Board meeting. A new mission and vision statement was also adopted. Over the next three years, we expect to grow our capacity and resources so we can better serve our clients and the Riverwood community. We are especially excited about the development of a new nonprofit organization (Riverwood Collaborative) which will focus to improve the community through economic development, marketing, and other growth strategies.
